It started with a project in what use to be call Junior High School, A Small Engine Briggs and Stratton 5 HP Lawn Mower
motor, mid rebuild I had to replace carburetor linkage, Intake and Exhaust Valves. Long story short as a Teen I didn’t
have the background, there-for investors were few if any. Mr. McNutt (Shop Teacher ) to the rescue.
While
he made the carburetor linkage, I pulled the valves from a leftover engine. Right then I had an epiphany
“Not only can I Repair it but I can also Make it”. Make it or Repair it (Machinery Repairman) was the Rate I wore (1984-1988 ) in the US NAVY; Acheived E5 "Machinery Repairman Second Class" (MR 2) in 38 months.
Post Navy I
tied in with a Mechanical Engineer Dave Montanes of DAMONT Eng. in El Paso Texas (1990). For the first year while also
attending Advance Technology Center EPCC and working on what started as a Liberal Arts Degree, I assisted and later managed
production of Assembly fixtures and Proto types for the Twin Plants in Juarez Chih. MX, and U.S. based Companies like Raytheon,
Westinghouse, AO Smith, Mercury Marine, Zenith and WADCO Aerospace on conventional machinery.
Increased
work load forced us into CNC machining (1993)… the introduction of said equipment open the doors to compete among
the larger regional shops. Training consisted of a crash course in operations and programming, the rest was O.J.T.(On the Job Training)
Thus my
drive to provide “Build on what you know” support and training.
The company we purchase the Bridgeport V2XT Mill later gave me the opportunity to share my MR passion with it’s Southern Texas customers (1995). Paving
the way toward my move to southern California in 1997 where I’ve since played a part helping Startup and Mid-level shops
make the most of their
Investment.
